Athena - Argentina - 10 things I think about Argentina

In honor of one of my favorite sportswriters, Peter King, I've written a list of 11 things I think I think about Argentina. This is something that Peter often does in his blogs and is just a good way to gather a bunch of random thoughts. So here goes...

1. It's almost impossible to buy a bad bottle of wine here. You know you're in a good wine country when nearly all of the cheap wines are really good.
2. Polo is a popular sport here, they really like it a lot. Not sure why, but that's what it is.
3. Argentines don't like dubbed movies - instead they prefer to watch movies in English with Spanish subtitles. And if you do go to a dubbed movie you'll likely be surrounded by little kids (they're the only ones who go to dubbed movies, you know, because of the whole not being able to read thing).
4. There's an ice cream shop at the bottom of my building and EVERY TIME I come home I'm tempted to get some. Every...single...time. It's kinda like an alcoholic living next to a liquor store. This isn't going to end well with me & my ability to fit into my pants.
5. I'm loving how so many women here wear scarves with their outfits. That's great because I packed 4 of them :)
6. I used my first port-a-potty here over the weekend. Just sharing because I'm sure you we're dying to know. Althea R. this one is dedicated to you!
7. Many of the dogs here are huge, like National Geographic huge! I've seen some that belong in a zoo instead of being someone's pet.
8. The old ladies here are seriously fashionable and cool. They often meet their other old lady friends for coffee at the cafés here. If I ever had to live another life as an old lady, I'd want it to be as an Argentine vieja (old lady). 
9. Evidently I look like I'm Brazilian. At least that's where people here think I'm from. Hey, I'm cool with that.
10. Dinner starts at 9 or 10 pm. Seriously, I'm going to eat my arm off- I can't wait that long to eat.
11. On almost every block you'll find a kiosko (it's like a corner store or bodega), ice cream shop and a bakery. Yup, that's heaven to me.
