I guess I got bored because I couldn't find a tour to see some of the surrounding sites, I wasn't sure what to do here and I couldn't quite figure out the schedule of things here. Businesses kept closing when I thought they would be open. I was too late or too early for dinner. I couldn't get in sync with the rhythm of life here. So I ended up spending quite a bit of time in my hotel room, much more than I thought I would. My hotel was further away from the city center than I expected, about a 25 minute walk. And it's super hot here, like almost 100 degrees hot.
After getting caught outside my first afternoon there I began to understood exactly why they had a siesta. It was too darn hot to do anything! Of course, I found this out the hard way being a curious tourist ("it's the afternoon, perfect time to go out and explore" I thought). Fast forward to a very sweaty and very tired me desperately looking for a cab back to my hotel.

| What did I learn from this last minute trip? That some adventures turn out well and some end up being very so-so. That it's up to me to entertain myself- I can't just blame the town I'm in; honestly I could've tried harder. That sometimes downtime is a good thing to do other stuff- I used the extra time to journal and write and have more devotional time with the Lord. This time was very fulfilling and inspired me to a carve out more time fore these two things in the rest of my journey. Maybe that was the point of this section of my trip, to remind me of what's truly important. |
Another travel side note: at my hotel, in order to get your room cleaned you have to turn in your key when you leave. Then the cleaning lady comes in and cleans your room. I don't know if it's like this in all Argentine hotels, but of course I didn't find this out until I checked out. I did keep wondering why no one cleaned my room. I figured I'm here by myself and I'm not that messy so it's ok. Note to self- next time ask what the deal is.
More adventures and misadventures to come!
